Aldea de Cano – Caceres 22.8km

18 & 19 May 2023

To my delight, I was gifted with a few extra winks of sleep. Although my mum insisted it didn’t make a difference to my mood, I was still a wild cat when she tickled my feet. The notion of slipping back into my cycling gear and packing up my bags wasn’t exactly how I envisioned starting my day. Skipping first breakfast, I waited until second breakfast to indulge in my favourite Spanish drink cola-coa and get back on the road.

Our destination was the enchanting city of Caceres, but the festival season posed a challenge as many cafes along the way were still closed. Today’s ride on some dirt tracks was an absolute blast, and we had the pleasure of encountering fellow pilgrims, from hikers to fellow bikers.

Arrived safely into Caceres zigzagging through traffic and pedestrians.

Rest Day: Following morning was our resr day today so that we could explore Caceres another historic city full of UNSECO sites. First top was finding a King and Queen in the walled city!

Then around the corner to visit Santa Maria church.

Museum time

Siesta then an evening exploring. This is my favourite part of the day hunting down cats to pat, exploring inside churches and the temperature is not so hot.
