I was inside and could hear lots of laughter coming from outside. Mum was trying to set up a tent with Grace. I was excited Easter camping was still going ahead. The current isolation rules include the national parks are all closed, as well as there are travel restrictions.
Some advantages of camping in our backyard was the tent would be on green grass and not camping on dirt, or moving small rocks and sticks. Plus if I forgot anything our house was only metres away.
It was a very chilly night so we loaded into the tent every doona and blanket we owned. We left a doona for dad, he wasn’t silly, he was sleeping inside.
Dad came out to the tent to say goodnight. As he looked in he said, “Look at all those doona’s I can’t see anyone!”
We laid in the tent and mum made us name sounds we don’t usually hear when bush camping. We could hear the chimes that were blowing in the wind off the cubby house, we could hear our dog barking I think she could hear us laughing, we could hear cars driving past and we could hear the neighbour shut her back door.
The next morning Grace got out of the tent quicker than lightning to see if the Easter bunny had been. Grace found Easter eggs beside the tent and had to scare off a crow who was eating through some foil.
Bella our dog was excited jumping and running and taking off with eggs. We had to chase her to get our eggs back as she can not eat chocolate.
It was so chilly mum made us get back into the tent with our cold hands and toes. In the tent we warmed our tummy’s up with hot chocolates and took lots of silly photos!
Mum always makes us wear bunny ears at Easter. I wonder HOW MANY MORE Easters mum will make me wear bunny ears?
