Salamanca – Zamora 66km
29 May 2023
Camino Kymmy waved down a taxi and embarked on her adventure to Carceres. The apartment lift is very small so the bikes and brought down one at a time. Taylor and Penny out on the street reassembled the wheels to each do the bikes. After donning our rain jackets and loading up panniers, a quick photo in the plaza before heading out to find coffee and begin a day of cycling.
Sprinkling rain, turned pouring rain, back to sprinkling rain. Our first flat tyre on Camino occurs and Penny holds on tight to the instant flat tyre. With a new tube fitted we were off again! The bike dramas did not stop there, my e-bike stopped functioning as an e-bike. At this point my legs knew it, with loaded panniers and a dead heavy weight of an e-bike it was time to use those gears and burn some of the many baggets I had eaten.
The bustling Bar Henendz was abuzz with chatter, laughter, and the sound of soccer blaring on the TV. We sipped on coffee and lemon Fanta while indulging in an extra helping of our favorite croquettes, which provided a comforting warmth on the dreary, damp day. Our quest for sunshine led us to Zamora, where we were greeted by a warm afternoon. A quick phone call to the bike company sorted out the issues with my e-bike in less than 2 minutes, if only I knew the little magnet on the spoke had such an important function.
