We weren’t panic buying but last week when mum opened the laundry cupboard to check we only had ONE roll left. So mum and I headed to the shops. They had just delivered a pallet of toilet paper and everyone was grabbing it, it was crazy. We looked like we were one of the panic buyers but really WE NEEDED IT!
The panic buying in the shops also included flour, pasta, chicken nuggets, meat and tissues. I also seen trolleys filled with bags and bags of rice.
Mum said for dinner we could have fruit and veges or veges and fruit.
I said that was not funny Mum. Lucky Penny arrived the next day with chicken nuggets, Grace and I were so excited it was like Christmas!
Mum took some photos to show the aisles with no food. Lucky mum doesn’t eat pork as there was none!
To prevent further panic buying the shops now have a limit on certain food and items. The shops only for an hour in the morning for elderly people only. It would be sad if they didn’t get any food because others had taken so much.
Mum said she would remove the trolley’s and just leave the baskets! But then she said that’s not great for someone with a large family or someone that lives out of town on a farm that does need more groceries.
I wonder how long panic buying will continue in our town?!
