We caught a train to the Eiffel tower. When we got off we could see it. It was HUGE!
The Eiffel Tower was built from the 1889 World’s Fair. The project was carried out by Gustave Eiffel. It was only going to be short term, but it became so popular it was left. It is the most popular paid tourist monument in the world. It took 2 years to build.
There was a security area we had to pass through. Mum and dads small daypacks needed to be searched. We went up in the lift. At the start it goes up on an angle. Then at the first level you get out and go in another lift that goes straight up. The height of the tower is 324m. The lift stops just before the final tip. There is a platform that has mesh on it you walk around the outside.
From the top I could see the buildings and places I visited.
Inside the top has the distance and direction to countries. I found the marker that showed Sydney and Canberra.
We took the steps down to the second floor. There was glass over one part and you could look down to the ground.
We went back at night time to see the lights.
