A tradition in my house whilst growing up was sitting and listening to funny stories made up by my grandparents and parents, of which mainly included our pets. To distract Grace on a very tough camino walking day I found myself beginning this tradition when Grace asked, “Who is that man … what is he doing with his dog?” I photographed the man and his dog and begun the story …
Cha Cha and Frankco
Once upon a time Grace, there was a man named Cha Cha. Cha Cha was a tall man, with grey hair and he lived alone with Frankco his dog. Frankco was Cha Cha’s best friend.
On the 10th of August, 2017 Cha Cha woke early. Cha Cha has his usual breakfast, a pot of tea and toast. Franko didn’t feel hungry and refused to drink his milk from his dog bowl. Cha Cha was getting cranky at Franko and told him if he didn’t have his breakfast he would not have enough energy to go duck hunting.
Frankco quickly licked all the milk from his bowl and barked with excitement. Cha Cha went and got ready his gun, bullets, and his lucky duck catching bag.
Once Cha Cha was ready they set off from their little log hut in search of at least 2 ducks for dinner. They had to walk a long way to the waterhole, but it was always guaranteed to find a few ducks there.
Cha Cha spotted the ducks, but suddenly they flew away. Cha Cha looked up to see what had scared them, only to see a bunch of pilgrims passing, they were laughing and chatting away. Cha Cha gave them a wave and sat quietly back in the long grass waiting for the ducks to return.
The ducks returned and Cha Cha got his big gun ready, BANG BANG!!! Frankco barked with excitement as he ran to where a duck fell. But on the way to the duck Frankco got distracted by a beautiful butterfly. Next minute Frankco was jumping in the air and barking with joy. Cha Cha whistled loudly at Frankco, “Get the duck Frankco and stop chasing butterflies!”
Frankco finally made it to the duck! When Cha Cha caught up he said to Frankco, “Lets just take one duck today as we don’t need to be greedy!” Cha Cha popped the duck into his lucky canvas bag and they return home to make a big duck soup!
The end!
