Tonight mum booked our first Airbnb!
We are staying in a straw bale cottage built in 2012. It looks towards the Hawkdun mountain range. It’s red roof and thick straw walls provide shelter from some of the most extreme weather conditions in New Zealand, hot and cold. These are some of the pictures I found about the building of the straw bale house.
Mum and Grace squeezed into the little bath! Mum said it was heaven and might help her butt bones that are still aching from riding a bike. Grace has cuts on her legs from falling off her bike today.
Inside the house there was lots of books, rugs, paintings and a log fire. I found seat near the window the sun had been warming it all day.
But when I got up mum jumped into my spot! The next morning Grace and I fed the neighbours lambs a milk bottle. The man spent some time in Australia at Glen Innes shearing sheep.
Off to the pub now to watch Richmond Tigers in the AFL grand final.
