Once upon a time …
There was an old lady named Lola who lived in a little village in Spain. Lola had a little house, a barn, a vegetable garden and a billy goat. Lola had lived there all her life. Lola had always had pet goats ever since she was a little girl.
When Lola was younger there was a troll that lived under the old Roman bridge. Lola’s dad had told her that trolls live forever and you must be nice to them.
The troll was short, with bumps on his face and burped a lot.
The troll one day said to Lola, “If you feed me super everyday, I will not eat your billy goats when they cross the bridge.”
Lola huffed and puffed and finally decided that was a pretty good deal. So everyday Lola would cook soup. Lola cooked lots of different soups, pumpkin, potato, herb, green grass, chicken soup, corn and the trolls favourite Galician soup. Today Lola decided to make the Galician soup, she put into a big pot white beans, pepper, turnip greens, paprika, a big ham hock and Spanish chorizo. The kitchen smelt so yummy!
As Lola was cooking she that the troll had no name. When the soup was cooking Lola went and asked politely could she give him a name. The troll said, “I have wanted a name all my life like humans have names.”
Lola and the troll sat around the fireplace one afternoon thinking of names. They laughed and laughed at all the funny names they came up with. Some names they thought of were, Ronald, Hairy, Timmy, Troll-o-sauous ad Zeppo!
In the end they decided on the name Grunt. He was so excited to finally have a name and he thanked Lola with a big hug!
Today Lola took her billy goat to visit Grunt under the bridge. The billy goat was not to keen to go as it was nice and sunny at the front of the barn. Lola said, “If you don’t come to visit Grunt he will not protect you from the pilgrims passing on the camino!”
The pilgrims would like to pat and take lots of photos of the billy goat. The billy goat hated his photo being taken. To protect the billy goat, Grunt the troll would make scary sounds under the old roman bridge to scare the pilgrims away.
Some of the pilgrims would squeal and run so fast that their backpacks would be flying in the air!
The billy goat thought of all the times Grunt had protected him. “I want to go to GRUNTS HOUSE NOW!!!” said the billy goat to Lola.
Lola, the Billy Goat and Grunt shared big bowl of Galicia soup and they lived happily ever after!
